Indian traffic and roads are classic metaphors for Indian behaviour

• When the traffic lights are off or when the cops aren't around, no one follows rules

No self-discipline

• When we want to go straight, we stand on the left. When we want to go left, we honk at the guy standing on the left. Or we honk at someone coming from the wrong-side even though we do the same.

• If there is an accident, more people stand around/fuel the fight and less people actually help the injured/help subdue the fight

Hatred & gossip

• If in a jam, even though everyone knows that if they wait and let the other side clear, they'll be able to move faster, they sneak in to any pocket they can find and make the jam last longer

Shortsightedness & selfishness

• At traffic standoffs, everyone expects someone else to take the lead and clear the mess

No leaders/wanting to follow

• If a cop arrives on the scene, we forcefully obey

Fear

• If a cop catches us, he generally asks for and we prefer bribes

Corruption & escapism

• If the cop is lazy/corrupt/unruly, then we're further doomed
